Sadie's day is just going from worst to worse. She's finally escaped her controlling ex, on their wedding day nonetheless, but fleeing in the rain, still in her dress and in his car, was perhaps a mistake. Breaking down in the quiet town of Vow Falls, Sadie needs a hero, but she never could have expected that brooding mechanic and ex-firefighter Reid, would be everything she needed. He's kept himself to himself since his friend and partner died in a fire last year, and likes his solitude. But seeing Sadie standing there, in the rain, frightened and afraid, it awakens a need to protect her, and he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
This was a short book, and though it didn't have a lot of plot, it was definitely enjoyable. Sadie and Reid may have just met, but their connection was instant, and their love strong enough to tackle anything, even an evil and cruel ex, hell bent on revenge. I liked the premise of the covered bridge, and the vows made there, and hope to see it explored more in subsequent books.
