Goodreads Synopsis
It’s the hottest summer on record …

Travis Tucker is a country-rock superstar. With four number one albums, all the fame and fortune he can handle and millions of fans, the lead singer of the Tucker Brothers Band should be on top of the world. But behind the spotlight, Travis is a hopeless romantic at heart, craving the one thing he’s never been able to find: something real. So he decides to buy himself a secret country getaway to work on his next record and clear his head.

Ruby Hayes is a sheltered small town girl with big dreams. Finally free of boarding school, nothing’s going to stop her from making it as a singer and songwriter. She’ll spend the summer writing songs on the grand piano in the abandoned farmhouse next door. Then she’s on her way to Nashville.

When Travis finds Ruby, singing like an angel at his piano, he falls hard. Now that he’s finally found the girl he’s been searching for all along, she ignites in him a wild obsession that’s hotter than the Tennessee sun.

But can their blazing love survive beyond the summer, with Ruby’s ambition, a jealous best friend and the relentless demands of Travis’s high-profile life threatening to come between them?

Or is this a love story written in both the music and the stars?

Review
I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher, via BookSirens. This in no way impacted on my view.

Fresh out of boarding school, all Ruby Hayes wants is to escape to the big city, and find a way to turn her love for music into a career. Spending her first few weeks of freedom exploring the abandoned farmhouse next door, which has her dream piano inside. Ruby never expected that it would have been sold after so many years standing empty, so being discovered in a skimpy bikini, singing the song she had just written, by the most handsome man she had ever seen, was a shock. Even more shocking was the fact that Ruby didn't recognise her new neighbour was Travis Tucker, one of the three Tucker Brothers, who's band has taken the country by storm. Travis is desperate for an escape after back to back tours, and he wants nothing more than to find his perfect match - but he didn't think it was be as easy as this.

I didn't really know what to expect from this book, other than a country romance, and I was hooked. For a book that's nearly 300 pages long, it was such a quick and engaging read. I couldn't put it down once I saw how Ruby and Travis' chemistry was off the charts. They definitely had an instalove romance, but it worked so well for them. Ruby was sheltered and naïve, but had the perfect voice, and Travis knew she would be a star. He just wanted to spend as much time as he could with her, so his idea to hire her as a cleaner for an extortionate rate, but really wanting her to focus on her music, was swoony. Travis treated her as a princess, just as Ruby deserved. Roll on book 2!
