Review
In Shuffle, Repeat we have two main characters, June and Oliver. They've known each other for years, as their mams are best friends, and both are seniors at school. But, that's where the similarities end. June can't wait to be done with school, and dislikes it all, whereas Oliver loves school, and is definitely soaking up his glory years. These aren't two who would be friends, but when their mams agree that they should carpool to school, against their wishes, they are forced together twice a day, and that when the sparks fly. They argue about everything - music, school, life, anything that they can, they do. However, it seems that the more they fly, the more the chemistry grows, and a friendship blossoms, and soon they could just be the person the other one needs.

I enjoyed the dynamic in this book. Most of the scenes take place in the car, on the journey's to and from school, and we definitely see the growth from disliking one another, to friends, to falling for each other, in a natural, progressive way, rather than being forced. When the school year starts, both are still very weird around each other, not really knowing the other person, but knowing they don't like the same things, so it all feels a bit wrong. They're also in relationships with others, so that helps with them making friends first, without romance over taking everything from the get go. That was my favourite part of the book - how they become proper friends first, before a relationship starts.

There isn't that much of a plot here - nothing to really write home about, but I wasn't going into the book expecting to see one. I did expect a bit more of a romance, as that was how the book was promoted, but it was very negligible. All in all, this was nice book, a quick read, and something to pass the time.
