Goodreads Synopsis
Karma’s ready to work

Socialite Bella Carmichael's perfect life was shattered when she was jilted at the altar. But a fated encounter with three perfect strangers at an airport is the beginning of an exhilarating and empowering sisterhood; The Karma Club. Bella doesn’t need a man, she just needs to get even! But instead of her ex-fiancé, Bella’s target is the man who betrayed her new best friend, Chase Miller; artist, charmer, cheater!

Bella’s strategy is simple; get a job at Chase’s soon-to-be-opening New York art gallery. Make herself indispensable, while subtly chipping away at his reputation and sanity. (She’s so good at her job, he won’t suspect a thing!). And at all costs, ignore the sizzling and very mutual electricity with her off-limits boss!

Going head-to-head with the arrogant artist unleashes a side of Bella she’d long since forgotten. The fiery, imperfect, naughty Bella revels in every challenge he delights in setting her. But when her sabotage goes too far, Bella discovers that there’s more to Chase than The Karma Club thought. Now she must turn her plan from vengeance into redemption and undo all her devious acts, before she falls for him… or is it too late?

Review
I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher, via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

In How to Get Even, jilted socialite Bella Carmichael is going to use the pain she felt at the altar to ruin someone else's life. Becoming best friends with three other scorned women - Paige, Astrid, and Sienna - in Chicago's O Hare airport during a snow storm, Bella know she is the perfect person to get revenge on Chase Miller, who lied to Astrid about being single. Hating cheats, Bella makes herself invaluable to Chase, becoming his assistant and helping with the opening of his new art gallery in New York, while also planning to sabotage the opening and destroy his reputation. However, Chase is not the villain he's made out to be, and there's another side to him which Bella can't keep away from. Is it too late for her to stop the destruction, and will he ever forgive her?

The small snippets we saw of Bella and Chase in The Payback Plan were just the tip if the iceberg when it came to their relationship. They were feisty characters, who went head to head constantly, and basically had everyone shipping them together. I loved the chemistry between them, and the softer, quieter moments where we really got to see their affection. Chase was shown as a cheater by Astrid, as his wife found them together. However, there's more to the story than what you'd expect, and he'd never done anything to be painted in this way. Yes, he was hard and lacked emotion on the surface, but he definitely showed Bella he was worth it in the end. Again, I didn't like all of the secret keeping, especially when the real feelings became more obvious, but I think it was dealt with even better in this book. Roll on book #3!
