I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher. This in no way impacted on my view.
After meeting the Wood family, Eilidh MacDonald is overjoyed that her brother has found his partner. However, she's drawn to Isabella's brother, Max, and though she knows there's more to him than meets the eye, he's a man without passion or drive to do anything, very unlike the men she knows at home. But Max has always wanted more than just to be a man about town, and when he discovers he has his own money, and can buy the Scottish estate, he wants more than anything to rise to the occasion, and prove to Eilidh he is worthy.
When I was offered the opportunity to take part in the tour for A Laird for the Highland Lady, I couldn't help but start it straight away. Max and Eilidh's story had been so compelling in A Laird in London, and I knew that their romance wouldn't be the smoothest, but would be more than worth it. And I was correct! Max went through such a transformation over the course of the book, learning things about himself, and growing into the man he was always meant to be. Eilidh, on the other hand, had always been strong, but here she allowed herself to be vulnerable with Max, and open herself up to potential heartbreak. There were truly heart-wrenching moments in the book, and I was worried that Max and Eilidh had too many obstacles to overcome, but all turned out great in the end. A perfect ending to the Laird of the Isles series!
