Being forcibly sent to Miss Pike's finishing school, otherwise known as the Wallflower Academy, is very much against everything Gwendoline Knox wanted. So when she literally walks into a duke on her first day, it's more than a shock. Gwen's mother may be a social climber, but even she knows that a duke, especially one as handsome as Percy Devereux, Duke of Knaresby, is high above her station, and nothing will ever come from the match. No matter how much Gwen wants it.
I've really enjoyed the other books I've read by this author, and this new series looked to be a good one, and I was right. I loved the banted between Gwen and Percy, who treated each other as equals and did not defer to their status at all. For Percy, it was refreshing to have a woman talking to him, and not pandering to his title and bending over backward to please him. Gwen's friendships with Rilla and Sylvia was the perfect reprieve from the romance of the story, and I hope they have exciting romances in the rest of the series too.
