Review
I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

With only one debt left to repay, Jeremy Landon, Earl of Bennington, will finally be free from the burden of his late uncle, and able to live his life without scandal. However, the last debt is not one that can be repaid with money, and instead Jeremy is told he has to marry the ward of Lady Rushworth to be free of his debt. The only issue is that the ward in question has a beau who she plans on marrying in a few weeks, as soon as she turns 21. Lady Eliza Burke can't believe her mother would stoop so low, and writes to Jeremy to convince him not to go through with the marriage, but he won't listen. It's interesting that Jeremy doesn't know the name of his fiancee though, isn't it?

This was such a quick read, I should have read it as soon as I got my copy. I liked Eliza and Jeremy, though their insta-lust, and then them not doing anything about it was a little grating. I liked how they grew closer to each other, though I do wish Eliza had opened up to Jeremy about why she was upset in the company of a certain gentleman sooner. Even so, I do understand why she was hesitant to let on what had happened in the past. Not much really happened in the book though, and I do think that you probably should have read the previous books as they mentioned some of Jeremy's cousins regularly, and kept making reference to the previous Earl, and his debts and scandal, which I didn't know about as this was the only book in the series I've read. It was still an enjoyable read though, one for fans of the Regency era.
