The Heartbreak Cure
Series: None
Author: Amanda Ashby
Published December 4th 2017 by Entangled: Crush
Goodreads Synopsis
How to get over a heartbreak:
Step one: Eat your body weight in brownies.
Step two: Throw yourself into your dreams of becoming a famous writer.
Step three: Beg your (hottie) ex-neighbor to act as your fake boyfriend.
Step four: Skip step three unless you’re ready for some serious fallout.
After being dumped and humiliated over the summer, Cat Turner does what any sane girl would do. She asks bad boy Alex Locke to be her fake boyfriend and show the world (and her editor at the school newspaper) that she's fine. Problem is, the more time she spends with Alex, the more she risks getting her heart broken. For real this time.
Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains a swoony bad boy who will melt your heart, brownies, and witty banter. One, two, or all three might prove addictive…

Review
I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher, via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.
The Heartbreak Cure is all about Cat, who after being dumped over the summer, asks bad boy, and friend Alex, to pretend to be her boyfriend, so that people thinks she's bounced back quicker than her ex. At school, she can show off her new relationship, and pseudo-friendship with Alex, but the more time they spend together, the more their fake relationship feels very much real, and it's soon a big problem that one may feel something more than the other does.
I love the fake boyfriend trope, and while it was alright in this book, it was nothing special. The two main characters, Alex and Cat, were cute together, and very shippy, but Alex had always hidden his friendship with Cat from everyone else, and there was a lot of unnecessary drama in this book that got my eyes rolling. Yeah, a cute read, but not one I would be jumping back to.
