Goodreads Synopsis
Is love strong enough to keep a young country doctor from returning to the city?
Dr. James Edwards is certain Willowbrook is the perfect place to begin his practice—if only he can convince the local herbalist/midwife there’s room for both of them. Surely his patients will prefer his modern medical techniques to the young woman’s ancient, misguided ways.
Jenny Dawson begs to differ. It’s going to take more than good looks and a fancy degree to win over the people of Willowbrook. But what will it take to win the young doctor’s heart from the scheming socialite bent on luring him back to the city?

Review
I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.
Dr James Edwards could be the next great town doctor, but answering Willowbrook's call for their own doctor may be the best decision he ever made. He's busier than ever, and the townspeople really appreciate all the work he does for them. The only issue is the local herbalist and midwife, Jenny Dawson, whose time proven methods are hard to compete with, as is her bedside manner. Convincing Jenny that they can work together, and combine their medical knowledge is one thing, but protecting his heart is something that even this doctor may not be able to do.
I found this book so fun, and I honestly couldn't put it down. James accepted the vacant doctor position in Willowbrook, and had really found his place in the small town. He loved helping the townspeople, more than he ever did in London, and the work was so varied that he was never bored. Meeting the lovely Jenny Dawson, who had been the town's sole medical provider for the last 10 years, suing herbal methods, and delivering more babies than she could count, was an eye opening experience for James. He was shocked with how quickly he started relying on her expertise, and how much he cared for her. James learnt as much from Jenny as she did from him, though there were moments when they clashed heads over their ideas. Seeing them work side by side was wonderful, and there were some really heartfelt moments when it seemed that they may never be able to be together. The climax of the action was obvious in coming, but the aftermath took my breath away, and I was nearly cheering by the final pages. A great Victorian romance!
