Goodreads Synopsis
If only Jane’s Magic 8 Ball could tell her how to get through the summer. With her “perfect” sister, Margo, home for her “perfect” internship, Jane is not going to be able to spend the summer writing fan fiction, as she had planned. And her emergency babysitting job requires Jane to spend the whole summer in awkward proximity to her new crush, Teo, a nerdy-hot lifeguard with problems of his own. With his best friend out of town, Teo finds himself without anyone to confide in…except Jane. Will Jane and Teo be able to salvage each other’s summer? Even the Magic 8 Ball doesn’t have an answer…but signs point to yes.

I have seen so many people talk about this author for so long, so decided to buy a copy of Signs Point to Yes to see whether they live up to the hype. In this book, Jane relies on her Magic 8 Ball to have the answer to everything. Now that it's summer, her 'perfect' sister is home, and to get away from the familial pressure regarding college, she takes a babysitting job to spread the time. However, the job requires her to be with her crush, Teo, quite often, as he is the half brother of her charges. Teo doesn't really have anyone to speak to about his own issues - not feeling comfortable with his step father and new siblings, and wanting to find his father online, so he turns to Jane to talk things through. The more they talk and confide in each other about their issues, the more they realise they don't just care for each other as friends, but as something more.
One thing I can say, is that this book was a quick read. I read it in just one day, and found myself enjoying it as I did. The plot didn't have much going for it, but it was nice, and I liked the interactions between the two main characters. The secondary characters were a bit more annoying, especially Jane's family and Teo's best friend, Ravi, but they didn't make me want to DNF the book like I have done with others. All in all, I can just say it was enjoyable, but I'm not sure if I would be in a rush to read more of this author's work in a hurry.
