Goodreads Synopsis
James Mycroft has just left for London to investigate a car accident similar to the one that killed his parents seven years ago...without saying goodbye to Rachel Watts, his 'partner in crime'.

Rachel is furious and worried about his strange behaviour - not that Mycroft's ever exactly normal, but London is the scene of so many of his nightmares. So Rachel jumps on a plane to follow him...and lands straight in a whole storm of trouble.

The theft of a copy of Shakespeare's First Folio, the possible murder of a rare books conservator, and the deaths of Mycroft's parents...Can Watts help Mycroft make sense of the three events - or will she lose him forever?

Sparks fly when Watts and Mycroft reunite in this second sophisticated thriller about the teen sleuthing duo.

Review
After reading book 1, Every Breath, I was looking forward to having free time between exams to read more from the series. Every Word was a great sequel, even better than its predecessor.

In Every Word, Watts and Mycroft are now in a relationship, and are dealing with the aftermath of the events in book 1. One day, Mycroft drops the bombshell that he'll be going to England to help investigate a car crash case, that has a lot of similarities to that which cause the deaths of his parents years earlier. When he disappears, Rachel is feeling very anxious, and is worried that it would all be too much for Mycroft. She ends up tagging along with her brother's girlfriend, who's about to go on holiday in Europe, and flies to London to surprise Mycroft, and keep an eye on him. To say he's surprised to see her would be an understatement, and he's not exactly best pleased. However, she's a big help in the case, as she was in Every Breath, and Mycroft wouldn't have coped without her.

I loved the action in Every Breath, and it was stepped up so much in Every Word! I thought the beginning was a tad slow, but as soon as Rachel touched down in London, the game was on! After being trapped in a cage with a lion in the zoo in book 1, I didn't know how Marney would be able to top the danger, but it's safe to say she did. Not to spoil anything, but I was actually fearful for Rachel and Mycroft's lives in this book!

Rachel and Mycroft were their wonderful selves, yet again. Rachel is definitely my favourite, and I adore how much she has grown since we first met her. She still longs for her home at Five Mile, but is enjoying living in Melbourne now, and likes the routine she has down. Her friends are really important to her, and Mycroft has played a big role in it all. Their relationship was so sweet, but also real - Mycroft kept stuff from her, like about his parents, and she didn't tell him everything either. They seemed like a real, teenage couple, who have other things to worry about other than just their partner, but still care about each other. Rachel and James would do anything for each other, as shown in books 1 & 2, and I adore reading about them.

Their being in England for the majority of the book was such an unexpected pleasure. I enjoy reading about the different Australian things in these books, but seeing British and English slang, etc. was perfect!

All in all, Every Word was exactly what I wanted for the sequel to Every Breath. There was definitely no sophomore slump with this series, and I love the similarities with the original Sherlock stories, without it being a direct copy. If you enjoyed book 1, this is definitely a book for you, and if you haven't started this series at all, but enjoy YA mysteries with a hint of Sherlock-ness, you should pick these books up ASAP!
