Goodreads Synopsis
It’s hard to stay professional when you’re stuck on a tiny island… with your ex
Carrie Briggs is on the cusp of a career breakthrough. About to be made partner at her accountancy firm, she’s been given one more hoop to jump through before it can be made official.
And she could think of worse clients to work with – because world-renowned billionaire Joe Hettich is flying her out to his private island in the Caribbean.
But her hopes of career highs (and relaxing in the gorgeous sun in her spare time, of course!) are dashed when she meets the CFO of Joe’s company: Luke Chalmers, the man who broke her heart seven years ago when he chose his ex over her.
With a storm brewing in paradise – both in her heart and literally, on the island – she’s going to have to put her big girl pants on and get through this, before all those feelings have a chance to resurface…
A sun-filled and heartwarming romance, perfect for fans of Emily Henry and Christina Lauren.

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher. This in no way impacted on my view.
It's been 7 years since her heart was broken, and Carrie Briggs is more than happy about it. About to make partner, she knows that if she can cinch the deal with hard to work with billionaire Joe Hettich, she can do anything. Arriving on Joe's remote paradise island, it's a dream, but one that soon turns into a nightmare when Joe introduces his new CFO, Luke - the man who broke her heart and left her all those years ago. Does Carrie had what it takes to put on a brave face and work with Luke?
Well this book went in directions I was not expecting. I really liked the way we got to see Luke and Carrie fall in love the first time, the break up, and then rediscovering their love courtesy of Joe's meddling. Joe was such a great secondary character, who had asked for Carrie on purpose because he knew that his friend and CFO Luke had history with her, and he wanted Joe to be as happy as he was. It was definitely a shock to both of them to see their past love in front of them, and it wasn't easy to start off with. There was a lot of unresolved tension which came out it witty quips and some passive aggressive remarks. It took them time to get over it, and with a little help from a literal hurricane make them see what was important. I think the only thing that would've made this 5 stars would've been more communication between Carrie and Luke, because a lot of the drama could've been solved very easily with a quick conversation. Even so, a really enjoyable book.
